CREATIVE WAYS TO REDUCE FOOD WASTE (adults) - presented by *Sustainability Pathways

This workshop will cover:

  • Menu planning tips to reduce food waste    

  • How to maximise leftovers

  • How to make vegetable stocks with food scraps

  • How to make vinegar with waste or 2nd quality fruit

  • Grow food from scraps or what you have in the kitchen

  • How to save money by reducing waste

 

CLEAN MARINE!!!! Keep our marine life healthy (for kids aged 5-7 years) - presented by **Nutty Scientists

Some of the topics covered in this workshop will be:

  • marine ecology, and the importance of a healthy ocean

  • the importance of keeping waste out of our water for our marine life.

The kids will get to do an experiment to see how oil and/or chemical spills in the oceans affect our friends in the sea.

 

SUSTAINABLE RECYCLING & MARINE LIFE (for kids aged 8-12 years) - presented by Nutty Scientists

Some of the topics covered in this workshop will be:

  • how to  identify recyclable garbage from the others

  • the effects of landfills and regular waste products that end in our oceans.

There will also be hands-on experiments!!!!

STORYTIME & CRAFT WITH KINGSTON LIBRARIES - for preschool aged kids (parents to stay)

Celebrate Science Week with a special storytime and craft activity by Kingston Libraries. 

Enjoy books, songs and a simple craft related to the environment and sustainability.

SPRING INTO GARDENING (for kids aged 7-11 years)

Parents are welcome to stay so why not come along and get your kids into the garden and growing food.

Learn how to make newspaper plant pots which can be used for seeds or seedlings and some garden basics.
Find out about all the fun food kids can grow in pots or small garden plots.
Everyone will leave with a pot they’ve made which can be planted at home in Spring!
