Information Session for Dads & dad-like figures

This information session, presented by Relationships Australia, is to support dads with community education and awareness around topics of interest in the developmental needs. This particular session will focus on strategies to help dads manage the emotions of their children, and ways to develop healthy and respectful relationships in their role as a dad.

 

This session will address the following outcomes:

• Understanding the development stages of children

• Ability to recognise early warning signs of escalating emotions in children, and take steps to prevent escalated emotions, where possible

• Identify and reflect on personal emotional triggers that may impact their responses, and strategies to manage these triggers before they escalate

• Understand how and why we might react both physically and emotionally to difficult situations and escalated emotions in children

• Discuss and apply strategies to help manage and work with escalated childrens emotions   

• Reflect on what a healthy relationship looks like as a parent, and ways to embed these within the household

• Demonstrate an understanding of how to monitor your own reactions and practise self-care.
